Sugar Mania

December8

Meredith was crazy enough kind enough to invite a couple of moms and small children over to decorate Christmas cookies.  I was lucky enough to be included in that invitation.  We basically turned the kiddos loose in Meredith’s family room with cookies, icing, and color sugar.  But the kids had fun and Sabrina managed to get almost as much sugar on the cookies as she consumed.

Tessa was draped in velvet and quite indignant about not getting to taste the cookies.

Sabrina’s sugar crash after 2 cookies, 2 lbs of colored sugar, and who knows how much icing licked off her fingers.

She perked up briefly for a snack at home and then crashed again.  It is a rare day that sees the car nap followed by a real one.

Tessa spent her time figuring out how to use both her hands and feet to play with the toy bar on her bouncy seat.

Thank you Meredith and I can’t believe I didn’t stick around to help clean up but perhaps saving you from witnessing the sugar peak and then crash was more helpful than wielding a dustpan.  And despite her behavior at your house, she talked non stop for the rest of the day.

What fun!! Your girls keep stayin’ cute! I love the pic of tessa using her hands and feet to play. I LOVE that stage. It is so funny when they “discover” their hands and feet. Griff used to stare at his hand like “what the heck is this?!” So fun!

We haven’t done the cookies yet, but I am sure it won’t be pretty! It is fun watching them, though isn’t it?

And, Tessa you are such a little doll!! Figuring out your limbs and their use is a big step.

Sabrina’s smile would take her miles in this house…..

so that’s the secret to getting a little more mommy time without kiddos around: give ’em a pound or two of sugar and let them crash. I’ll have to try that one.
    hee hee

Simply precious! A friend of mine did this for some children at her house while the grown ups sipped wine and waited on Thanksgiving turkey. My gurlz had more colored sugar ON the cookies than in the cookies themselves. Fun was had by all.

Fun times, Cool photos. I haven’t yet made cookies this Christmas, but it sounds like fun. My 2-year-old daughter would get a kick out of decorating, but boy would it get messy!

so tonight I decided to look back at some of your pregnancy posts. First off, I vaguely remember seeing at some point on the adoption forum you were pregnant but I don’t know I just forgot or something but man Michelle, we really would have been a great support system for each other. It was like reading my posts and there we were experiencing the same thing at the same time. I have had three miscarriages and saw the heartbeat on the first one. With Hunter I just could never relax, felt no one in our families really believed I might actually give birth, they just pretended to be excited and was plain nervous the whole time. I was on 1200 mg. of Prometrium for the first 14 weeks and 600 mg. for the rest of my pregnancy just to stay pregnant. I also got gestational diabetes and just couldn’t wait to have Hunter. I was just reading all your posts and all those feelings came rushing back to me. So crazy isn’t it, oh and everyone felt the need to comment on the “oh you know what they always say, you adopt and…..” uggggg, spare me. It made me want to scream. I REALLY hate hearing the same thing repeated by several people who all think they are the first to say it. Gag! But congrats to us for making it through and SANELY at that and having two amazing little Guattots by our side while doing it. And also congrats to us for managing two when on some days it does seem very near impossible. Your babies are cute as always!
